Luchi and alurdom was something that my heart and my stomach yearned for since the day I landed In UK. Though am not a much ardent lover of Luchi like my beloved husband yet my heart reckoned for it. It may have been for the fact that I was far away from home and the fresh home cooked food by my mom in law or my mom. 4 months passed since that day and I was unable to grant my stomach's wish. My husband complained daily that just because I was not fond of Luchi I was not making it and bereaving him from the sheer pleasure but little did he know how much I wanted it too. However laziness overcame my desires.

Until a bright Sunday morning interfered in and I made up my mind to delve into the tiresome act of making the dough and fry the Luchi for my heart gave in to the picture I saw in my sister in laws profile. Now that I have made it am more than happy about it and foremost I saw a "Big Smile" on my husband's face as he gorged into them.

Luchi and alurdom is typical Bengali breakfast most common on Sundays as the whole family is at home and the women at home tries to bring a variety to the regular breakfast comprising of bread and butter or the modern healthy version of cornflakes and milk in the middle class family. The whole idea of dieting and health goes up in the air and vanishes. I have often heard my mother saying" ekdin khele kichu hobe nah"(nothing would happen if you have it one day) and believe me this one day is four times a month. Then there are people like me who do like to have luchi but remembers the after effect of having them and a spoonful of some liquid antacid follows.

A simple recipe and a hearty breakfast.
